In the second quarter of 2022, the top Travel and Local apps on the Android platform in South Africa showed varied performance in terms of weekly downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at how these apps fared.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced a steady decline in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 15K in late March and dropping to around 9.5K by the end of June. Despite the decrease in downloads, the app maintained a fairly stable number of weekly active users, fluctuating between 159K and 170K throughout the quarter.

FlySafair saw significant fluctuations in downloads. The app peaked at 81K downloads in the week of May 2 but generally maintained a lower download rate of around 1K to 2.6K in other weeks. Active users also showed a similar trend, peaking at 78.5K in early May and then stabilizing between 12K and 32K for the rest of the quarter.

Google Earth had consistent weekly downloads, ranging from 3.7K to 4.5K. The app's active users remained stable as well, with numbers hovering around 31K to 36K throughout the quarter.

Airbnb maintained a steady download rate, averaging around 3K downloads per week. Active users showed a slight upward trend, starting at approximately 41K in late March and reaching around 43K by mid-June, before settling at 41.5K at the end of June.

GPS Navigation Live Earth Map showed a peak in weekly downloads at 5.1K in early May, with a gradual decline to around 2.2K by the end of June. The app's active users increased steadily, growing from 1K in late March to approximately 4.1K by late June.
